Jay Clifford, Technical Support Engineer
What’s your role at ADLINK & what’s the best thing about it?
I work as a Technical Support Engineer for ADLINK. I am the first line support for any problems customers may face while using our software. It’s my job to investigate suspected bugs, apply fixes and act as a voice between our customers and ADLINK developers when dealing with more complex issues. The most exciting part of my role is no two days are the same; one day I could be helping second line supply a new release, the next I could be analysing a customer’s code to help troubleshoot the issues they are facing.
Where did you work before ADLINK?
Before working at ADLINK, I had just recently graduated from Heriot Watt University with a bachelor’s in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence, as well as completing a year long internship as a Visualisation Designer for Jabil Circuit inc.
What exciting things do you get to work on here?
At ADLINK we work daily with cutting edge IOT software and hardware. The best part about it? Most of it is developed inhouse. This means I am able learn the ins and outs of software and hardware which is currently being deployed as solutions in industry sectors such as: Aerospace, Transport and Defence.
Where do you live? What’s great about it the area?
I currently live near the centre of Gateshead which is just a stone’s throw away from work. The community I live in is incredibility tight knit. Everyone looks out for each other and you find that most of your neighbours will go out of their way to help you in a time of need. Gateshead also has great transport links to Newcastle which means you’re never far away from the excitement of a big city, if that’s more your scene.
What’s the best thing about working here?
The best part about working here is the people. Everyone is incredibly talented and hardworking, and I have learned so much from them in such a short time. Aside from work, everyone is sociable and friendly and on many occasions we all find ourselves out on group activities at the weekends; whether that be playing a friendly game of football or competing in a local pub quiz.
